I have decided to start back with my Thifty Thursday posts because I love finding ways to have fun-filled weekends for less. Now I need to say that I like to make plans, but not in detail. This is just an idea of what we will do, but nothing is set in stone. It's the weekend for goodness sake!
If ya'll are like us, you eat out too much. I shouldn't say too much because really it goes in spurts. We do really well with the balance of restaurant food and home cooking for several weeks and then we fall off the bandwagon. Before you know it, one meal out turns into ten meals out...in one week. And I'm just saying, there is a direct correlation between eating out and our bank account...NOT GOOD! So with lots of birthdays, showers, and traveling ahead of us, we have decided to limit out dining out. Not wanting to sacrifice too much, I do have some great meals planned for our weekend!
Thursday: As every Thursday, Eli and I will have a mommy/son day. The weather here has turned cold, so I think we'll head to the library. He's really into books right now, so it should be fun! I'll probably take him to McDonald's for ice cream too. Then, I have to fold some laundry...it's bad ya'll! Anyway, for dinner I am going to make a KY Hot Brown. I got the recipe from a nutrition class I did a story on, so I'll let you know how it tastes. Oh, it's The Office night for me and Eric...Total Cost $3!
Fridays: are always pretty simple around our house. Once again the weather is looking grim, so we'll probably just hang out at home. I'm fixing Oven Fried Fish for dinner with fresh asparagus...yum! Other than that, Eric and I will watch a movie once Eli goes down..Total Cost $0!
Saturday: Eli has a very busy day! We are going with Tina and Owen to a local consignment sale to look for spring clothes. Be sure to check back to see our bargains! We'll likely eat lunch at Chick-fil-A since I'm a sucker for the playground. Then, it's off to a birthday party for my little man. Kroger was having an awesome sale on meat, so we'll be having steak, baked potatoes and green beans for dinner...Total Cost $10
Sunday: As we do every Sunday, we'll get up and go to church. I plan on making Cavatini the night before to heat up for lunch. Of course we'll have left overs for dinner. We'll probably not do much of anything Sunday since we usually focus on resting from our long work weeks... Total Cost $0.
That's a look at our oh, so fun yet frugal weekend. I'd enjoy hearing your ideas too, so be sure to post them in the comment section for everyone to read.
