Reading Is Fun

After the adventure at the library a couple of weeks ago, the kids have begged non-stop to go back.  My work schedule keeps me from being able to go most week days and weekends are insane.  Luckily, I had a few minutes to spare on Monday and the library happened to be open later, so we made the most of our visit. Ellie loves the treehouse and always makes her book selections as quickly as possible so that she can hurry up pick out the most perfect reading perch. Eli, on the other hand, is growing up on me.  He takes his book selections very seriously and actually sits down to read them.  I hope to be able to take them at least every other week so that they will continue to love reading.

Let It Snow

This weekend has been glorious here in Southern Kentucky with temperatures nearing 70 degrees and even a little sunshine.  My Facebook feed was full of photos from Timehop that pointed out that we had a foot of snow this time last year. I'm not trying to kick a gift horse in the mouth or anything because I love this weather, but I wouldn't cry if we got a little winter weather.  I mean if it's 70 degrees in January, how will we survive August? Anyway, I had the cutest snowman dress for Ellie to wear with smocked snowmen on it.  It may be a little out kilter for the weekend weather, but why not! Who knows.  Maybe we will get that one, good snow before spring.

A Few of My Favorite Things

It has been a long but wonderful week with so many fun things to enjoy, so I thought that I would wrap it all up with a few pictures of my favorite things!  I love prissy little girls who love to dress up, and I especially love the ones who think they are mermaids.   I also love massages, which is why I am using my Christmas money to treat myself to a monthly massage.  Today was my first for the year, and it was glorious.  I must also add that having a June birthday is also a major perk, because I can use my birthday to finish out the year with this little treat. Finally, I love sunrises and sunsets.  It never ceases to amaze me how incredibly beautiful our Creator can paint the sky.  It's a true masterpiece every day, and he such a precious reminder of his faithfulness.

Donuts With Dad

Every year Eli's school sponsors two events that we love.  One if Muffins with Mom, and the other one is Donuts with Dad.  This morning Eric took Ellie to daycare and then headed to celebrate with Eli. After a quick picture, the students enjoy breakfast with their father and give them a sweet little present to remember the occasion.   I sure do love these two guys!

I Had The Best Day With You

We were all off work today because of Martin Luther King Day, so I took the kids to Ralphie's Fun Center for a fun day while Eric went bird hunting. After a drive-thru lunch, we headed to Glasgow to get $10 wristbands for an afternoon of fun. We started with a ton fun on the bouncy houses.  They played forever with each other, and I couldn't help but get gushy at how precious it is that they've become little playmates and not just siblings. After the bouncy houses, we decided to try our luck with roller-skating.  Bad idea.  It took fifteen minutes to get everyone laced up and ready. I was too cheap to rent the little skate-mate, so I tried to hold both kids up on my one.  I'm not being dramatic when I say that lasted all of thirty seconds. Some sweet little girl offered to loan Eli her skate-mate, so that helped a bit.  Nonetheless, The Watson children no not have skating skills.  We made it about a third of the way around the rink before w

Pie Face

My parents bought Eli the game Pie Face for Christmas, and the kids have been begging us to play with them.  Since there was no school yesterday, we had Family Game Night on Sunday after dinner. It was so much fun watching everyone anxiously turn the wheel hoping not to get hit. Of course everyone ends up getting a "pie" in the face, and we all just laugh.  I'll be honest and say that I was a little skeptical because I don't need anything else to clean-up, but this was well worth it. Just look at the joy on these sweet, little faces.  I can't wait until our next family game night so that we can play it again.

Weekend Recap

We have been looking so forward to our three day weekend.  Friday started with a pizza party and Family Movie Night.  Ellie wanted to drink her juice from a wine glass, so I obliged.  Bless her little heart, I think being in the wedding last month and drinking sparkling grape juice, let an impression on her.  Eric's parents came to town on Saturday to see Eli play ball, and he was pumped!  I was too busy taking video to snapped any photos, but he had a great game and was so proud of himself.   Eric's parents stayed in town to play with the kids while I went to a work event, and then we all met for dinner before they had to hit the road. After a quick trip to Wal-Mart to let the kids spend their Christmas money, we headed back home to play and relax. Yesterday was church, and Ellie insisted on wearing her Snowman dress.  She doesn't know this yet, but she has three.  What can I say?  We love festive attire. Eric and I kept the nursery and let

Library Days

I was in meetings all day long yesterday, so I was able to leave work a bit early.  The kids have been begging to go to the library, so I surprised them with a quick trip. When I worked in television, I got off at noon every day so we had a weekly library date.  Eli remembers that little tradition well, so he always wants to go back.  Naturally, it closes about 5 minutes after I pick up the kids, we never make it.  Today was an exception, and they were so excited.  It broke my heart so much that Eli passed up the easy readers and headed straight to the chapter books.  It just doesn't seem right! Ellie doesn't much remember going to the library, so she was wide open taking it all in.  The treehouse enthralled them both, and even prompted a bit of reading before we left.  I'm so grateful that they both like to read, and I may channel that enthusiasm a bit by trying to take a few more trips to the library whenever our schedules allow.

Weekend Recap

The first full weekend of 2016 has come and gone, and it was spent just the way it should be with lots of family time, a few fun activities, and a dash of relaxation. We started the day off at Eli's ballgame, and we were supposed to hit the road for Lexington as soon as it ended.  As luck would have it, of course, a kid hit Eric in the face with a basketball and broke his glasses. Even though we were a bit delayed, we made the most of it by hitting up Krispy Kreme Donuts while the eye doctor repaired the glasses.  The ride to Lexington wasn't terrible other than the kids asking, "how much longer" every five minutes.  I think they were just excited to be opening Christmas gifts.   We enjoyed a few minutes visiting with family before opening presents.  Mom and Dad made a huge dinner for everyone, so it was nice to be together as a family.  We even managed a group shot with everyone including the two new babies! On Sunday Eric and I w

Family Fun Night

Last night was our first Friday at home in several weeks.  With all the Christmas festivities and traveling, we were very much looking forward to a quiet night at home.  We made homemade pizzas and everyone got to add their toppings.   After dinner I popped some popcorn, and we made some hot chocolate.  Then we sat around the table playing games and enjoying each other's company.  Ok, the truth is that we're all quite competitive so we had a few meltdowns before the end of the first game.  By "we" I mean Eli.  Ha! Nonetheless we had a great night and started the first full weekend of the new year off on a good note.
