Texas Size Bows

From the moment I heard, "It's a girl."  I have dreamed of Texas size bows...you know... the ones that are bigger than a baby's head.

I think this obsession goes back to my childhood where my super adorable and blond sister wore cute bows every day.  Meanwhile, I was sentenced to "the bob" - that would be a short, single layered, chin length haircut parted right down the middle.  I guess if I'm being completely honest, I did have Texas size bangs. Ha!  Big bangs, and big bows are hardly the same thing!

The truth is I did wear bows, but not nearly as often nor as big as Amy's.  Call me jealous if you will.  Ha!  I promise, I'm not scarred for life over this.  I am, however, in love with big bows! I even tried my hand at making them, but seeing as I don't have a crafty bone in my body, that was an epic fail!

Lucky for me, one of my pageant sisters is talented in that area and has a small businesses making bows. Jossy Belle Bows.   She makes them both custom and standard and in all colors, fabrics and sizes.  You have to check her out on Facebook!

This was the first bow I ever ordered for Ellie.  It says "little sis."  I think this will always be special because she wore it home from the hospital.  Even though it's still a little (ok, a lot) big, it represents all things pink, frilly, and larger than life!

I think this looks more like a Derby hat than a bow...living in KY that's fine too!  It is so adorable, ya'll.  Really, this picture doesn't do it justice.  This is one of those bows that we'll have for a very long time!

You can't really see this, but it's a Louisville Cardinals bow.  I actually ordered this when they won the Sweet 16.  I'm not really a Cards fan, but I knew Eric would totally go for it.  I figured it was a great excuse to buy a new bow.

What Southern Belle doesn't own something camo, really?  Well, me...but that's another story for another day.  I think Ellie will look super cute next to her daddy when he's decked out in hunting gear this fall for quail season.

Of course this spring favorite got a lot of use, and Jessica offers it in a ton of colors.  Every time I see Ellie in this I think of the queen ant in "A Bug's Life."

We had our newborn pictures made in this sweet headband.  Ya'll the detailing is amazing.  Jessica is truly talented, and we are so grateful that she shares her gift with us.

I know you're going to ask, so let me answer.  NO, Ellie doesn't not wear bows all day.  In fact, she doesn't  even wear then every day.  It's a hassle keeping up with them and more often than not, if anyone besides me is holding her, they take it off.  Even Eric can't stand to have her in a bow.  We'll talk about this another time...ha!  When she does wear a bow it's rare that it's absolutely huge.  The weight of Texas Size Bows just make them harder to keep on .

All of that to say, whatever your  preferences- small, medium or large, solid or custom, bows or headbands, Jessica is amazingly talented and completely professional.  So, be sure to check her out!

A New Decade

Happy 2020, everyone!  I know I'm a month and a half behind, but ya'll, January was brutal!  Not brutal in a tragic kind of way but in a "life will wear you out" kind of way. It started off with the flu...times three!  Eric, Ellie and I had Flu B and missed the first week back to school and work.  Then Eli was diagnosed with Flu A two weeks later.  Thankfully, my in-laws stepped in to help so that we didn't have to miss any more time at work. On top of the sickness, we listed our house for sale. The work it takes getting ready for market is just crazy. But we also have people coming in and out of our home at all hours and it's just kinda overwhelming. Plus, we are finalizing everything with the builder. In full transparency, working with the builder has been the easiest part! Maybe I'll do a little update on the whole building process later this week.  Now that the dust has settled on 2020, I'm going to try my very hardest to keep this litt

Mother's Day Memories

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day.  I want to start by saying that my heart and prayers go out to the "Mommies in Waiting" and to those who are missing their Momma on this special day.  You are not forgotten. We started Mother's Day at church with our crew, and we were lucky enough to be in the nursery.  We let Eli tag along, and he helped facility "Derby Races" around the table while the kids were on riding toys.  It was a hoot!  We also made cards for the mommies. We had some leftovers at home for lunch and then I spent some time laying out while Eric worked on the pool.  It was almost 90 degrees and the perfect way to relax on my special day! Eric made me a shrimp boil for dinner, and we took a family trip to Dairy Queen.  They also have presents coming later this week for me.  Basically, they are awesome!

Hit Me With Your Best Shot

Have I ever told you that Eli loves sports?  Ha!  I look back at him with baseballs and basketballs at 18 months old ,and it blows my mind that he's still so interested.   The thing is, he doesn't discriminate.  Baseball, basketball, football, soccer...you name it, we play it! Not only do we play sports all day, we also have to watch certain videos on Youtube.   We watch "Boys of Fall," while wearing a football helmet. We watch Alabama's "Cheap Seats,"  John Fogerty's"Centerfield," and Kenny Rogers,  "The Greatest" while holding a bat, carrying a ball, and wearing a batting helmet. And now, thanks to Space Jam, we have to listen to the movie sound track while shooting hoops!  That's a blast from the past! He hasn't found a song about soccer or golf...YET! And with all that playing, who has time to run inside for a potty break?  Not this boy! I never thought
