Snow Day

Before I get started with the point of this blog, I guess I should explain the delay in posts. Since last writing some things in my life have changed, particularly my work situation. Because childcare is quite expensive, I have relocated my office to home. I still work for Chick-fil-A and am blessed to have the flexibility I do, thus I now have a home office. And while it is quite a blessing to be home with my Little Man it means less social (networking) time and more work time during naps and between feedings. Right now my supper is cooking, my baby sleeping, my husband relaxing and that gives me about ten minutes to get this written. So here we go... I think it's safe to say that we all grew up looking forward to Snow Days, watching the scrolls across the bottom of the television screen and just hoping our school would show up. Despite the extent of my dislike for cold weather, I still look forward to snow days even as an adult. Having a husband with a degree in weather, I had k...

Four Months of Blessings

Last Thursday my baby boy celebrated his four month birthday. I can't believe it! Everyone said it would fly by...what an understatement. It seems like just yesterday Eric and I were fighting over whose turn it was to take the 3am feeding. Now we argue over who gets privilege of getting him out of the bed in the morning. (I'll explain later) My how the tables have turned! The thing that amazes me the most about my baby is his personality. So to all of you who have never met my little man, I can honestly say that pictures are not worth a thousand words. At least not in the case of Mr. Elijah Harold Watson. So, I would like to take you behind the pictures and introduce you to my boy. Every morning Eli wakes up cooing; never crying. One of us will quietly slip into his room and stand beside his bed until he looks up and sees us. Then this huge, gummy smile spreads across his face and his eyes light up. He is so excited to see his mommy and daddy and probably even more excited to ...

Our Birth Story

Yesterday Eli celebrated his three month birthday. I can’t believe it!! In some ways it seems like an eternity since that precious day he came into our lives, and in other ways it feels like it was just yesterday. We have transitioned from sleepless nights to twelve hours of rest, from hours of crying to audible laugher, from parental uncertainty to joyful moments and from strangers to a family. These past three months have been incredibly exhausting and wonderfully blessed! After weeks of Braxton Hicks contractions, a bout with pre-term labor and three weeks of bed rest, I woke up in the early hours of August 10 and announced to Eric that today was the day. We were going to have a baby. The contractions were no more severe than they had been the day before, but something in me just knew my baby was coming. I knew of course that I should stay home at least for early labor, but instinct told me to go to the hospital. We only lived about seven minutes away, but I had a deep urgency to g...

Life Comes At You Fast

Nationwide has an insurance commercial that says, "Life comes at you fast." I've often thought that Eric and I would make wonderful spokespersons for the company because that seems to be our theme. We don't half do life; we go at it full force. Our story begins on Wednesday May 3, 2007. I went to the news studio at WKU to work on a couple of stories I was putting together for the following night's show, and when I got there I met a meteorologist working on his weather cast. We talked briefly, I told him my name, got my work done and headed for my daily run. When I got back to the dorm room later that night I told my roommate about our meeting. She said, "Wouldn't that be crazy if you just met your husband? I think you just met you husband, Morgan." I not so politely told her she was crazy and dismissed the incident. Later that night, upon checking Facebook, I discovered Mr. Eric Watson had sent me a friend request. I accepted the invitation and went ...

Welcome to Motherhood

Exactly ten weeks ago today I gave birth to our son Elijah Harold Watson. He weighed 6 lbs, 8oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. Who knew such a little person could change my life so completely. Since that joyous day my life has been turned upside down. I'm exhausted, excited, overwhelmed and overjoyed all at the same time. But no matter what emotion I may be feeling one thing is more certain, the past ten weeks have been the most amazing and fulfilling of my life. So, I invite you to follow my journey through motherhood as I share the moments that make life so sweet, and the challenges that test my patience and sanity daily. Motherhood is a full time job, a daily test, and above all a gift from God. This is how I'm living it...
